Who We Are
Joan Pinkerton
Joan has had an extensive career in education having served as a classroom teacher, a NYC staff developer, curriculum director, district supervisor, and principal. Having worked in both suburban and urban districts has given her a unique perspective on how all students learn and how to make learning accessible to all students. Joan presently coaches and mentors administrators and teachers from across the country on closing the achievement gap.
Carol Rapport-Sommer
An educational consultant and long-standing Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services in the Lower Hudson Valley, Carol also served as a Regional Associate with the New York State Education Department conducting comprehensive special education site reviews and providing technical assistance and training to public and private schools. Carol additionally directed vocational and educational programs for the NYC Mayor’s Office for the Handicapped and the New York Society for the Deaf.
Roberta Wiener
Roberta is an experienced college professor, public school administrator and general and special education teacher. She earned her doctoral degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in special education. Roberta has presented her research at national and international conferences and published in professional journals on a variety of educational topics. She has also consulted with school districts regarding best practices in the delivery of special education.
